Hi Mark, I've just seen your blog from may and wanted to say thanks for mentioning our book on The Fleur de Lys, it's a real honour to get a name check from one of my fav authors (lick lick). I also read in your blog about The Blue Flames 45 you brought, great records, both of them. The reason they came out on R&B Records and never credited Georgie was because the Gunnell brothers had him tied in with EMI and didn't aprove of these recordings so Mick Eve got them issued withought their approval. All The Best Damian Jones. p.s one for the annoraks the R and B in R&B Records actually stands for Rita and Benny who were and old Jewish couple who used to press up and sell records privatley on the starlite label.

I remember lots of these. Must be your Mam's age!

Spender was great and his sidekick, Stick, was wonderful. Sad he died too soon too.

My all time favourite TV detective series was Harry O. Brilliant scripts by Howard Rodham and a well rounded character so well portrayed by David Janssen. There's another who died too soon! Just wish they'd put the series out on DVD. I assume it was just too good for the US market at the time where they were obsessed with stupid car chases and increasing violence. They cancelled it and we got shows like Charlie's Angels!

Spender was brilliant... such a shame it finished in it's prime. Who'd have thought Jimmy Nail would make such a fantastic tv cop? Why, oh why, are decent shows like this NEVER repeated??!
